A pair of UAS are expected to take to the skies over the U.S. Arctic Ocean this summer, conducting work for the oil industry. Operating the remote controls will be private companies, including ConocoPhillips, Alaska’s largest oil producer and holder of oil leases in the remote Chukchi Sea off the state’s northwest coast.

Scion UAS Completes First Flight of SA-400 Jackal OPH
Scion UAS has completed the first test flights of the production SA-400 Jackal Optionally Piloted Helicopter. The first flight comes after extensive flight tests of the prototype helicopter and shortly after receiving a special airworthiness certificate for experimental research and development for the optionally piloted SA-400 helicopter.
