The Department of War announced that it has reached a framework agreement with BAE Systems to ramp up production of the combat-proven Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS). A new defence technology company being launched by former Ukrainian Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov will produce interceptor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) designed to target jet-powered Russian UAVs, with Palantir Technologies as its first investor. In a statement, Fedorov said Ukraine would be the company’s priority.
Raytheon, an RTX business, was awarded $729 million to deliver critical components of the LIDS counter-drone system to the U.S. Army, Qatar and Jordan. LIDS – or the Low, slow, small, unmanned aircraft Integrated Defeat System – incorporates Raytheon’s Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor (KuRFS) and the Coyote effector.
