NASA is Helping Fly Drones in the Arctic

In the unforgiving Arctic climate, drones have struggled to fly for extended periods of time — the kind that would allow researchers to fly scientific instruments safely to keep tabs on the region. Now, a team led by NASA scientists is showing how a fixed-winged drone named Vanilla could fly for several days over the Arctic ocean carrying an instrument that uses radar to measure the depth of snow accumulating on top of sea ice. AUVSI Rebrands as Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International

AUVSI, a global trade association for the autonomy, robotics, and automated air, ground and maritime vehicle industries announced its name change to reflect ongoing efforts to promote gender inclusivity. In addition to dropping the word “unmanned” and other gender-specific terms in its name, governing documents, and association language, the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) announced the launch of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Advisory Group.

BlueHalo Gets $14M US Army Offensive Swarming UAS Contract

BlueHalo was recently awarded an initial $14M contract for the development of a HIVE small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) architecture by the US Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO). Hydraulic Hybrid Multicopter Can Fly Up to 900 km

Edinburgh’s Flowcopter is developing long-range heavy-lift drones to help helicopter operators optimize freight, surveying, and search & rescue operations.
