The Ericsson USA 5G Smart Factory has begun a proof of concept with an autonomous, natively 5G mmWave connected drone to perform indoor missions within the Ericsson factory. Starting with autonomous inventory checks in the factory’s warehouse high racks, the drone’s indoor-optimized flight control, 5G connected Nest docking station, and live video streaming cameras enable a wide variety of sensing solutions using the Ericsson USA 5G Smart Factory’s fully on-premises 5G private network. Drone-As-First-Responder Firm Aerodome Raises $21.5M in Series A Funding

Aerodome, a supplier of Drone-As-First-Responder (DFR) technology, announced that the company has raised $21.5 million in Series A funding to continue building DFR solutions and growing its engineering and go-to-market teams. CRV led the round with participation from Andreessen Horowitz (a16z)Karman Ventures, Immad Akhund (CEO, Mercury), and Ford Street Ventures. Frontex Announces C-UAS and Red Team Industry Day

Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, has announced an upcoming Industry Day dedicated to exploring innovative and emerging solutions in the context of counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) and adversarial red teaming services to test the effectiveness and responsiveness of C-UAS solutions. The Industry Day will be held on 12 June 2024, on Webex.  Frontex is seeking to connect with commercial operators that can offer innovative, technology-agnostic solutions to neutralise UAS effectively.
