AeroVironment Gets $5.5M Puma Contract from US Marines

AeroVironment has announced that the U.S. Marine Corps is the first military service to adopt four different small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) from the company with the receipt of a firm fixed-price order valued at $5,558,479 for the RQ-20A Puma AE through an existing U.S. Army contract.  Delivery is scheduled within two weeks. DARPA HTV-2 – Aeroshell Degradation Caused Flight Termination

An unexpected degree of aero-shell degradation was “the most probable cause” of the premature flight termination of DARPA’s Hypersonic Technology Vehicle during a flight over the Pacific Ocean last August, according to the findings of the agency’s independent engineering review board.
