10,000+ Drone Flights a Day in Canberra by 2030

If the drone delivery scheme for Canberra takes off, there could be 11,000 flights a day, according to a scenario in a report written for the company behind the scheme. The economists at the AlphaBeta consultancy estimate that by 2030 there would be 5.6 million deliveries a year by drone in the ACT. Continue reading

AeroVironment Quantix Helps National Park Service Recovery Efforts from Southern California Fire

AeroVironment, Inc.  announced that it is supporting the National Park Service Inventory and Monitoring Program to assess the environmental impact of the Woolsey wildfire in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area of Southern California. Burning over 96,949 acres, the devastating Woolsey wildfire destroyed more than 616 park structures and consumed approximately 88% of National Park Service land within the recreation area. Ameren Completes 60-mile Drone Flight over Power Lines

With thousands of miles of high-voltage lines, Ameren Corp. wanted a better and safer way to monitor its assets spread over rural territories beyond manual or helicopter inspections. The St. Louis-based energy company worked with Black & Veatch and Collins Aerospace to identify a solution: Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) drone flights. Continue reading
