Flight of the Lady Hawk Breaks Records
In recognition of Women’s History Month, members of the 69th Reconnaissance Group decided to break a record. Three of them, in fact. On March 29, an RQ-4 Global Hawk aircraft belonging to the 348th Reconnaissance Squadron landed after being aloft for 34.3 hours, beating the previous Global Hawk endurance flight record of 33.2 hours, and consequently the longest flight without air refueling on record for any military aircraft. Additionally, the flight was accomplished with an all-female flight and support crew, with more than 50 women working together to accomplish the mission, dubbed “Flight of the Lady Hawk.” Continue reading
South Korea Confirms Crashed UAS from North Korea
South Korea has concluded that two UAS equipped with digital cameras that crashed in different locations in the past 10 days were North Korean. The Blue House said yesterday it is attempting to come up with measures to better detect small UAS, including the introduction of a radar designed to detect craft flying at low altitudes. Hermes 900 Becomes a “Star” in Israeli Air Force
The “Hermes 900” UAS, manufactured by the Israeli company Elbit Systems,”received its official Hebrew name in the IAF: “Kochav” (star in Hebrew). The “Kochav” UAS strengthens the UAS arm of the IAF and designed for HALE (High Altitude Long Endurance) reconnaissance missions.
Triton Completes Initial Flight Test Phase
The US Navy’s MQ-4C Triton completed its initial flight test phase at Northrop Grumman’s Palmdale, California, facility March 13, bringing the unmanned air system one step closer to introduction to the fleet in 2017.
Northrop Grumman Delivers Global Hawk Early and On Cost
