Elbit Systems’ Hermes Starliner UAS Gets Type Certificate in Israel

For the first time ever, the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Israel (CAAI), that operates under the Israeli Ministry of Transport and Road Safety, has certified an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) for civil aviation, approving it to fly in civilian airspace as any other civilian airplane and not restricting its flight to non segregated airspace. DARPA Black Hawk Helicopter Completes First Unmanned Flight

The DARPA Aircrew Labor In-Cockpit Automation System (ALIAS) program completed a first ever flight of a UH-60A Black Hawk helicopter without anyone onboard. Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company, completed 30-minutes of uninhabited flight with the optionally piloted vehicle (OPV) over the U.S. Army installation at Fort Campbell, Kentucky on February 5th. GA-ASI Gets Support Contract for French MQ-9

The U.S. State Department has approved a $300 million Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Government of France for the continuation of MQ-9A Reaper Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) and related equipment. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), developer of the MQ-9A Reaper Remotely Piloted Aircraft, is the principal contractor. Continue reading
