Researchers at Cornell University have just published a paper which examined the performance of 5G-connected low-altitude drone communication. They found that the already deployed mid-band 5G is a promising candidate for aerial communication, even without any change in the network setting. They now plan to investigate the mmWave 5G performance for drone communication as a future direction. Continue reading
This Fourth of July, history was made. Sky Elements Drone Shows achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for the largest aerial sentence formed by multirotor/drones. 1,002 drones armed with bright LED lights took flight and dazzled the crowd with a show paying tribute to the history of the United States. NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter successfully completed its 52nd flight, despite communication dropouts due to challenging Martian terrain. DroneShield Ltd has been awarded a follow-on 2-year R&D contract with a total value of $9.9 million by a Five Eyes Department of Defence (DoD). Guerrilla groups and other nefarious actors are reported to be making drones to support their operations.
