Counter-UAS System in Development

With the proliferation of consumer UAS, the threat of collisions between drones and manned aircraft is a growing concern, particularly to operators of rotorcraft, which tend to fly at lower altitudes than fixed-wing aircraft. To combat this potential hazard, Virginia-based Alion Science and Technology (a $billion-revenue government contractor) is developing a device to take control of encroaching drones and move them out of harm’s way. Dedrone Gets $10M Funding for Drone Detection Platform

Dedrone, developer of civilian drone detection system, announced that it has raised $10 million in Series A funding. The round was led by U.S.-investor Menlo Ventures, one of the world’s premier venture capital firms investing in consumer and enterprise technologies. Dedrone will use the fresh capital to accelerate the advancement and sophistication of its drone detection technology and to expand its sales and marketing teams.  Continue reading
