Pentagon Wants Pre-Approval on UAS Export Sales to Reduce $327 Billion Export Backlog

The Pentagon is processing a record backlog of $327 billion in arms exports and is speeding up the clearance process to meet the rising demand for UAS, said Vice Admiral Bill Landay, head of the agency responsible for weapons exports.

RIP Maynard Hill – Builder of First Model Aircraft to Cross the Atlantic

Maynard Hill, a designer of model airplanes who secured a spot in aviation history in 2003 when one of his creations flew 1,882 miles across the Atlantic Ocean on less than a gallon of fuel, died June 7 of prostate cancer at his home in Silver Spring, Md. He was 85.

AeroVironment Gets $13M Puma Contract Extension

AeroVironment, Inc.was awarded on June 6 a $13,113,191 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. The award will provide for the modification of an existing contract to confirm Puma unmanned aircraft systems training and contractor logistics support.
