UVision Successfully Demonstrates Hero-400EC Extended-Range Loitering System

UVision Air Ltd. has successfully demonstrated the Hero-400EC extended-range loitering system for a strategic customer. The demonstration, which took place in southern Israel in December 2017, proved the tracking and lock-on capabilities of the system using a moving vehicle and a human target in various operational scenarios as well as its mission-abort capabilities. Turkey’s ‘Kamikaze Drone’ is Ready for Action

Turkey’s “kamikaze drone” series, a prominent product of the Turkish defense industry, is getting ready to go to the field. İsmail Demir, the Undersecretary of Defense Industry (SSM) and Chairman of Defense Technologies Engineering (STM), told Anadolu Agency that the “kamikaze drone,” developed by STM and exhibited for the first time at the 13th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) in May, has begun mass production. AeroVironment Gets $2.5M U.S. Navy Contract to Continue and Expand Blackwing Program

AeroVironment, Inc. has announced the receipt of a contract award from the United States Navy on September 29, 2017 for continuation and expansion of its Blackwing small Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) program. The contract includes orders for multiple Blackwing vehicles, sensor payloads and refurbishment kits for a total value of $2,578,822. The initial set of vehicles are anticipated for delivery by May 2018, and final delivery anticipated by November  2018. Continue reading

Lockheed Martin to Test Low Power Laser from UAV

Lockheed Martin is being awarded a $9.4 million contract for the Low Power Laser Demonstrator (LPLD) that aims to fire a laser beam from a UAV. Under this contract, Lockheed will perform the next step for the LPLD Phase 1 effort that addresses laser power and aperture size by integrating and testing a low power laser on an unmanned aerial vehicle.
