Deutsche Post DHL Tests UAS Parcel Delivery Across the Rhine

dhl-Germany’s express delivery and mail company Deutsche Post DHL is testing a UAS that could be used to deliver urgently needed goods to hard-to-reach places. The small pilotless helicopter flew a package of medicine Monday from a pharmacy in the town of Bonn to the company’s headquarters on the other side of the Rhine River. Tijuana, Mexico to Use Unmanned Aircraft to Aid Public Safety

3DR RTFUAS soon could help Tijuana authorities monitor traffic, evaluate accident scenes, detect landslides and control wildfires. Mayor Jorge Astiazarán said this week that he’s preparing to buy several small, unmanned aircraft for the city, making Tijuana one of the first municipal governments in Mexico to use UAS.

Louisville Hosts Quadcopter Battle

LVL1 Hackerspace is hosting a “Quadcopter Ultimate Arial Combat Competition (QUACC) – Louisville’s first ever Quadcopter battle.It is limited to 16 competitors, who have to use a specific quadcopter, chosen for it’s low price tag. Jeff Bezos Promises Half-hour Shipping by UAS with Amazon Prime Air


Jeff Bezos is nothing if not a showman. Amazon’s CEO loves a good reveal, and took the opportunity afforded by a 60 Minutes segment to show off his company’s latest creation: drones that can deliver packages up to five pounds, to your house in less than half an hour.
