Launched by hand from the shore or a boat, the fully-waterproof Aeromao Talon Amphibious is able to remain airborne for up to two hours on one charge of its battery pack, flying either autonomously or by remote control. Avitas Gets First FAA Civil BVLOS Approval with Radar
Avitas Systems, a GE venture, received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval to fly an unmanned aerial system (UAS) beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) in Loving County, Texas. The permission authorizes the company to fly a UAS over 55 lb at low altitudes without a visual observer for industrial inspection; it is the first FAA-approved civil use of BVLOS with radar.
