Lighter Than Air Systems Sells Aerostat Winches to US Army

World Surveillance Group Inc., a developer of lighter-than-air aerostats and unmanned aerial systems, announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Lighter Than Air Systems Corp. (“LTAS”), has provided seven critical aerostat launcher electric main winches and spare components to support the Small Tactical Multi-Payload Aerostat System (“STMPAS”) for the U.S. Army Rapid Equipping Force (“REF”). Long-Endurance UAS Suffer from Lack of Customer Support

AeroVironment‘s Global Observer was being developed as a JCTD, funded by no fewer than six U.S. government agencies, and was to fly with the Air Force’s Joint Aerial Layer Network (JALN) payload, designed to allow multiple tactical communications systems to talk to one another and connect to distant command centers. AeroVironment says it is still talking to its customers.
