Raytheon Gets $16M Fire Scout Linux Upgrade Contract
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) control experts at the Raytheon Co. Technical Services segment in Dulles, Va., will switch a major unmanned helicopter control system from Solaris to Linux software, and upgrade the system with universal UAV control qualities under terms of a $15.8 million contract.

By 2022, the United States is projected to spend less than half the worldwide total on UAS research and development, as other countries — principally in Asia — step up production of own unmanned aircraft, according to a report by national security consulting firm Forecast International.
Infotron Sold for $10M
Groupe Gorgé, via its subsidiary ECA S.A., has acquired French UA helicopter provider Infotron for €2.5 million and 375,000 shares of ECA – a combined value of around $10 million. The acquisition supplements ECA’s line of unmanned underwater and aerial devices and systems with a proven line of mini helicopter-type vertical takeoff UAS.

Arcturus UAV has unveiled JUMP, a vertical takeoff and landing system for their T-20 and T-16 fixed wing UAVs. Booms fitted with vertical lift motors and rotors are mounted to each wing to provide vertical lift for takeoff and landing. Engineering Consultants Buy UAS Fleet for Energy Pipeline Inspections
A firm of engineers based at Newcastle-upon-Tyne in England, that offer services to global oil and gas operators has invested in a fleet of UAS to allow them to survey hard-to-reach locations.
