Carbonix Raises $4.5M in Late Seed Funding

CarbonicBoats Pty. Ltd. (“Carbonix”), a designer, manufacturer and operator of unmanned aerial data capture solutions based in Sydney, Australia, has raised AU$6.3 million in late seed funding. The round, which was oversubscribed, includes listed Defence aerospace manufacturer Quickstep Holdings Limited who invested $1M – adding a strategic dimension to the mix of individuals and small funds taking up the opportunity. GENIUS NY, a business accelerator program at CenterState CEO’s Tech Garden, has announced the five finalists companies selected for its fifth round. These startup unmanned systems and robotics companies will participate in the year-long program and will compete for a total of $3 million in direct investment, with one grand prize of up to $1 million and four $500,000 awards. US Air Force Gives $60M Funding to Develop Mach 5 Aircraft

Hermeus, the aerospace company developing Mach 5 aircraft, announced the signing of a $60 million U.S. Air Force partnership for flight testing its first aircraft, Quarterhorse. Quarterhorse will validate the company’s proprietary turbine-based combined cycle (TBCC) engine, based around the GE J85 turbojet engine, and is the first in a line of autonomous high-speed aircraft.
