Swarmer, known for its advanced battlefield AI, has raised a $15 million Series A—the largest investment in a Ukrainian defence tech company since the war began. The round was led by Broadband Capital Investments, with participation from R-G.AI, D3 Ventures, Green Flag Ventures, Radius Capital, Network VC, and UA1 vc.
Swarmer’s software enables groups of drones to execute missions autonomously by translating human-defined objectives into coordinated action.
“Our software has proven itself in live combat across tens of thousands of missions,” said founder and CEO Serhii Kupriienko. “This funding allows us to scale operations and deliver advanced swarming capabilities to unmanned systems in Ukraine and across NATO-aligned countries. Democracies should be able to deploy drones and robots at scale without being limited by pilot availability.”
Ukraine has become a global leader in drone warfare, rapidly expanding its defence industry in response to the conflict. In 2025 alone, the country is expected to deploy nearly five million drones, driving rapid innovation through real-world testing and agile procurement.
Mykhailo Fedorov, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, said Swarmer’s success should encourage further investment in Ukrainian defence tech, noting that local innovations are reshaping modern warfare and attracting global support.
Swarmer’s software-only, hardware-agnostic platform stands out for its flexibility across different systems. Trained on data from over 82,000 combat missions and millions more from external sources, it is designed to replicate top pilot performance and make real-time tactical decisions.
“Driven by battlefield experience, Swarmer is iterating faster than traditional defence companies,” said Michael Rapp of Broadband Capital Investments. “Its approach positions it as a leading software layer for next-generation autonomous systems.”
