Parrot Gets $18M ANAFI Order from Finland

Parrot, a European manufacturer of professional micro-UAVs, has welcomed the announcement by the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command regarding the procurement of Parrot ANAFI UKR systems to enhance Finland’s intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2026. The total contract value, including VAT, is approximately €15 million (USD 17.7 million). Boston Group, Parrot’s long-standing distribution and service partner in the Nordic region, is supporting programme delivery.

Finland has operated Parrot micro-UAV systems since introducing the first-generation ANAFI Thermal SE, followed by significant quantities of ANAFI USA systems from 2023. These platforms initially supported training, field familiarisation, and the development of ISR methods and procedures. Over time, they have been integrated into exercises and readiness activities across the Finnish Defence Forces, providing tactical-level situational awareness in challenging terrain and harsh climatic conditions.

The Finnish Defence Forces note that modern warfare increasingly depends on layered, continuously evolving unmanned capabilities. Existing Parrot systems have established a strong foundation for micro-UAS training and operations and will remain in service. ANAFI UKR represents a substantial advancement, shaped by operational observations and experience from Ukraine.

Designed in Europe, Parrot’s tactical micro-UAVs prioritise secure communications, protected data handling, and resilient performance in demanding environments. Their compact, soldier-portable design enables rapid deployment and dispersed operations while maintaining operational security.

ANAFI UKR delivers advanced aerial intelligence to ground forces operating in complex electromagnetic environments. Standard features include embedded AI, optical navigation, anti-spoofing frequency-hopping military radio, and hardened cybersecurity architecture. Key capabilities include autonomous navigation in contested environments, real-time classification and tracking, extended endurance, wind resistance, secure communications, and automated mission workflows that reduce operator burden.

The enhanced system supports tactical reconnaissance, target acquisition, border surveillance, and rapid deployment missions requiring mobility, discretion, and resilience.

  1. It was too bad they could not continue to produce for the domestic market. I have several and they are the toughest units for my climate.
