UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía’s Flight Control System is now Integrated with Ultra Motion’s Servos.

UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía, the Spanish manufacturer of flight control systems for UAS, and Ultra Motion, the reputable North American company, have teamed up to make their systems compatible. The integration between Ultra Motion’s servo technology and UAV Navigation- Grupo Oesía’s autopilots has been accomplished by using a Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus interface with Ultra Motion’s servos.

This CAN Bus interface seamlessly communicates with UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía’s VECTOR Autopilots, enabling DUOs (Designated UAV Operators) to take full advantage of the actuator’s diagnostic capabilities. The access to real-time and high- frequency commands and servo feedback at 200Hz frequency enhances the responsiveness and stability of the UAS during flight, allowing for precise control even in dynamic and challenging environments and enabling the operators to have instant status information of the servos.

The choice of the CAN Bus as the preferred communication protocol in this integration is driven by the rapidly growing UAV industry and the emergence of more complex systems. While traditional PWM control suffices for smaller aircraft, large vehicles with long wire distances demand a more robust solution, making the CAN Bus the ideal choice to ensure communications. Additionally, it boasts high immunity to electromagnetic interference, making it highly reliable in challenging operating environments.

The synergy between Ultra Motion’s Servos and UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía’s VECTOR Autopilots guarantees an outstanding degree of reliability in large UAV systems. The joint effort between these two industry leaders has resulted in a fascinating integration for several reasons, opening new possibilities for the UAS community. First and foremost, Ultra Motion is a US-based company known for its collaborative approach. Their willingness to work hand-in-hand with UAV Navigation-Grupo Oesía has ensured a smooth and efficient integration process. By combining their expertise and resources, they have created a robust and reliable system that caters to the unique needs of UAS operations.
