Police Helicopter in Tulsa in Near Miss with Drone

Sean Thornburg was filming a Police procession from St. Francis hospital when he captured a near miss between a drone and the Tulsa police helicopter.

Police officers were escorting their fallen comrade from St. Francis to the medical examiner’s office.

Tulsa Police Sgt. Craig Johnson, a 15-year veteran of the department, died after he was shot in the line of duty.

We do not know who was operating the drone or whether they had FAA approval to fly in that controlled airspace, but we do know that drone pilots are supposed to yield to manned aircraft like helicopters, which did not happen here.

The drone coming close enough that prop wash from the helicopter blew it away.
