Goleta Star Gets US Department of Homeland Security Silicon Valley Innovation Program Contract

dhs-homeland-security-day_0Goleta Star LLC has announced that it has been awarded a DHS Silicon Valley Innovation Program contract worth $200,000. Goleta Star will demonstrate the unique capabilities of its VideoRadar product to track vehicles and people illegally crossing the US border for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Typically, visual and infrared (IR) cameras are used to track vehicles and people, but their operation is limited to fair weather conditions meaning no fog, clouds, rain or snowfall. In contrast the VideoRadar sensor overcomes these limitations operating in nearly all weather conditions. The VideoRadar is mounted on an aircraft or Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems and produces a video of a hotspot on the ground.

“It is an honour to work with the CBP and a great opportunity to bring our VideoRadar to the market and practical use”, said John Kirk, CEO and founder of Goleta Star LLC.

The DHS Silicon Valley Innovation Program under the Other Transaction Solicitation was designed to engage non-traditional performers to develop solutions for some of the toughest threats facing homeland security.  The awards were made under SVIP’s Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems capabilities project to develop new capabilities in support of CBP’s operational mission.
