On September 9th, Mr. Arturo A. Puricelli, Minister of Defense and Mrs. Nilda Garré, Minister of Security signed a series of cooperation and coordination agreements in order to enhance programs of joint interest in the areas of Public Health, Transport and Maritime affairs, among others.

In particular, one of the agreements include INVAP and foresees a of a Survey on the Mission Requirements and the production of a Technical and Commercial Proposal for Class II and III Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV), in order to develop and implement the Argentine Robotic Air System (SARA), which must be compatible with both Ministries.

Argentina plans to use the drones, expected to fly as long as 12-20 hours, on its ships in searches at sea.

The program has an initial investment of 238 million dollars, the gazette said. The government contract is with state-owned INVAP, which makes complex technological products, and is owned by Rio Negro province.
