University of Colorado Aerospace Engineering Design Symposium April 15

The Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado, USA is organising its second annual Industry Symposium to present its aerospace engineering design projects. The Aerospace Engineering Design Symposium will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011  in the Discovery Learning Center at the University.

In total, twelve projects will be presented, two of which involve unmanned aircraft with innovative propulsion systems:

  • eSpace will present ‘Biomite’ – a turbo jet bio-fuel project and its ‘GoJett Supersonic UAV’ designed to reach speeds of up to Mach 1.2. (eSpace is a partnership between The University Of Colorado and Sierra Nevada Corporation’s Space Systems Group.  Calling itself “the Center for Space Entrepreneurship –a collaboration of industry, government, and academia with the aim of accelerating the formation of entrepreneurial space companies and a diverse workforce to support them”
  • Hyperion’ is a blended wing-body aircraft with a hybrid Electric Motor/Internal Combustion propulsion. The design team is composed of four international groups, two at the University of Colorado (CU), one at the University of Stuttgart Germany, and one at the University of Sydney Australia
