Russia’s leading UAS developer Transas Group has announced the launch of its new civil MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance) unmanned platform project.
The system will be operable in the common airspace and will be certified according to the new national regulation that is currently under development.
Transas sees multiple opportunities and applications for its new MALE unmanned platform, especially in connection with increasing offshore oil and gas exploration activity in Russian Arctic and Pacific regions by major oil and gas companies, including Gazprom. Combined with upcoming reopening of the Northern Sea Route, this creates strong prerequisites for increased demand in the field of unmanned aircraft system operations, such as ice patrolling, ecology, weather and climate change monitoring, natural resources surveys, S&R missions support, and communication relay provision etc..
Transas Group has been involved in UAS development since 2006, and has a track record of successful UAS deployment for pipelines inspection, aerial surveys and mapping for both commercial and governmental customers.
The Group works in close contact with national aviation authorities on a new set of regulations on remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) commercial use in common airspace.
In 2011 the “Dozor” UAS, designed by Transas, took part in the world’s first joined common airspace flight operations of manned and unmanned aircrafts with Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) based air traffic tracking and control system.
