EURO HAWK to Fly from California to Germany on July 19

Northrop Grumman and Cassidian have announced that the first EURO HAWK will land in Germany on July 19, 2011. The aircraft, which will take off from Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., is expected to touch down at the Manching Air Base at approximately 10:00 Central European Summer Time.

Senior German government and military officials will be on hand as well as various Northrop Grumman, Cassidian and EuroHawk GmbH representatives.

EURO HAWK, a trans-Atlantic partnership between Northrop Grumman and Cassidian, is the first international configuration of the combat-proven RQ-4 Global Hawk high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE) UAS built by Northrop Grumman. It is also the first operational HALE signals intelligence (SIGINT) UAS in Europe.

It will be equipped with a SIGINT mission system developed by Cassidian. Capable of flying up to 60,000 feet for more than 30 hours, EURO HAWK will provide standoff capability to detect electronic and communications emitters.
