Northrop Grumman recently hosted the 2014 United Arab Emirates (UAE) Innovation Challenge champions, from the Higher Colleges of Technology’s (HCT) Fujairah Colleges, in Southern California.The weeklong trip took the coed team, named Fujairah Dynamic, on an extensive tour of the region’s science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) facilities. Topcon Positioning Group has released two unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for mapping — the Sirius Pro and Sirius Basic. Both systems are designed to produce the most accurate solutions for the automated mapping of a wide range of sites — regardless of terrain — including construction sites, mines and quarries, and for use in land surveying, power line and pipeline inspection as well as precision agriculture field mapping. FAA Faces Legal Action on Its Rules for Model Aircraft

On 23 June, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) published its interpretation of the “Special Rule for Model Aircraft,” which disgruntled quite of few people with an interest in flying model planes and helicopters. US Air Force Test Wing Gets Global Hawk for Software Testing

The 412th Test Wing’s Global Vigilance Combined Test Force received a Global Hawk Block 40 Aug. 6, on loan from Air Combat Command. The aircraft, from Grand Forks Air Force Base, North Dakota, is joining the Block 20 and 40 aircraft at Edwards AFB to offer an additional platform for configuration-constrained testing, allowing the test force to balance their schedule.  Continue reading
