Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) successfully showcased its SkyCAP counter Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) capability recently at tactical demonstrations for the United States Government (USG). The exercises, which took place in April and May, validated SkyCAP as a viable and effective system solution for lightweight dismounted, on-the-move tactical vehicle platforms, and fixed-site infrastructure protection. Walmart’s Drone Delivery Plan Includes Blockchain Tech

Walmart has submitted a patent application for a drone delivery system that focuses on how packages will be received. Instead of just delivering goods to your doorstep, drones would drop packages into secure boxes (lockers) that communicate with the drone. The application describes a smorgasbord of technology that could be used to ensure secure drop-off, including geofencing and a blockchain for package tracking and identification. Continue reading

Grand Sky to Host Counter-UAS Industry-Led Task Force

North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has announced the formation of a UAS industry-led task force focused on supporting the development and advancement of technologies to protect and defend against threats posed by rogue UAS activities. The UAS Detection and Counter-UAS Task Force will be tasked with coordinating amenities needed for UAS operators to test countermeasures in North Dakota and aiding in identifying opportunities for technology development. Australia Invests Aus $101M in WASP AE Fleet

The Australian federal government has announced it will be investing AU$101 million into small unmanned aerial systems for use by the Australian Defence Force (ADF). The funding for the drone fleet comes under tranche one of a two-tranche program, with Minister for Defence Marise Payne commenting that Defence chose Wasp AE to meet an immediate need.
