The US Coast Guard is training up UAS pilots in anticipation of Congress providing funding for its own aircraft. The skeleton of the service’s UAS programme is taking shape at the Aviation Training Centre, Mobile, Alabama.

University of North Dakota Students Train on Corsair’s ScanEagle Simulator
The University of North Dakota has teamed with Corsair Engineering to provide University Students pursuing a UAS major at UND to use the ScanEagle UAS as an example platform to learn mission employment and operational techniques through the use of high-fidelity simulation.
US Navy Wants to Lease UAS for Training Events
The US Navy’s Fleet and Industrial Supply Centre, Norfolk, Philadelphia Office wants to lease two UAS to “replicate a likely threat in visual, aural, and most importantly IR and RCS signatures at a series of training events”. The first event will take place in June 2011 on San Clemente Island, CA.
Enrolment Up 200% for Kansas State University UAS Course
Interest in Kansas State University Salina’s Introduction to Unmanned Aircraft Systems course is soaring, with enrolment up 200 per cent since autumn 2010.

BOSH Wins $2M UAS Training Contract from USAFA
BOSH Global Services has been awarded a $2.2 million one-year contract (with the option for a second year) to provide UAS training to United States Air Force Academy (USAFA) cadets.
University of North Dakota Gets MQ-9 Reaper MTD

$15 million Gray Eagle Training Centre On Schedule in Arizona
Work is on schedule to open the Army’s new $15 million Gray Eagle UAS Training Centre at Fort Huachuca within a year. The installation is near Sierra Vista in South East Arizona, 15 miles from the Mexico border. The announcement was made last week by Brigadier General Gregg Potter, who commands the Intelligence Centre of Excellence and Fort Huachuca.
