Northrop Grumman Wins DARPA TERN Contract
DARPA hasn’t yet given official confirmation of “who won” the TERN contract. But this month, one of the two contestants told us who lost. Specifically, on September 22, AeroVironment announced that it “was not selected to receive a phase III contract for DARPA’s Tern program.” Given that the only other company competing for TERN was Northrop Grumman, that leaves Northrop as the Phase III TERN contract winner, by default. Insitu Inc., Bingen, Washington, is being awarded $8,702,731 for firm-fixed-price delivery order 0001 against a previously issued basic ordering agreement (N00019-15-G-0014) for the procurement of spare and sustainment parts required to maintain the RQ-21A Blackjack unmanned aerial system in support of Marine expeditionary unit work-ups, deployments, and squadron readiness training.
