Matt has been working in the unmanned aviation industry for 9 years, prior to which he served for 9 years in the U.S. Marine Corps in multiple OCONUS locations and combat deployments. During his tenure working in unmanned aviation, Matt has overseen all facets of UAS service provision for USG and private sector clients, ranging from recruiting to program management to strategic development and advisory services. John is also President and Owner of John M. Palatiello & Associates, Inc. a public affairs consulting firm located in Reston, Virginia, providing government affairs and association management services to firms and organizations in the geospatial, engineering and mapping related fields. To find out what inspires their interest in UAS and attracts the Advisory Board Members to support Drone World Expo, we scheduled a series of exclusive interviews. Our fourth interviewee is Michael Drobac, Executive Director of the Small UAV Coalition.

Michael has a good understanding of key public policy issues facing the technology and communications industries from his experience working directly for Internet companies on technology and communications matters.  He previously worked as head of government affairs for two different technology-related organizations—Netflix and the Online Publishers Association—and served in a senior role at a third, IAC/InterActiveCorp.

Prior to his tenure in the private sector, Mr. Drobac served for nearly 10 years in the offices of three U.S. senators focusing on trade and technology issues. Continue reading →

Our third interviewee is Jesse Kallman, Head of Business Development and Regulatory Affairs, Airware.

Jesse Kallman currently leads Airware’s global business development efforts and regulatory work. Airware is a San Francisco-based company developing flight control systems for commercial unmanned aircraft. Mr. Kallman works with global UAV manufacturers, service providers and major corporations looking to use UAV technology. He also serves as the company’s interface with the FAA and other regulatory agencies domestically and abroad as well as serving as a member on the various committees writing standards for unmanned aerial systems. He is also the President of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), the leading trade organization for unmanned systems, and is a board member of the Small UAV Coalition.
