Russia has been a relatively late entry in the field of modern unmanned aerial vehicles for military use. However, engineers from major defence firms are now working on a range of projects, including a heavy drone bomber, long-and-medium range reconnaissance UAVs, and smaller systems for local recon and defence.

Kongsberg Geospatial announced that it has been selected by Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) to conduct trials of a new long-endurance UAV surveillance system for the Canadian Coast Guard. A new Guinness World Record was set last week in north China’s Tianjin Municipality for the longest animation performed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
