Colombia Seeks C-UAS to Counter Illicit Drone Activities

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been employed in narcotics and other illegal activities across Colombia. Guerrilla groups and other nefarious actors are reported to be making drones to support their operations. Quantum Systems and Airbus Defence and Space to Research AI and Swarming in Tactical UAS

The Planning Office of the German Armed Forces has awarded Airbus Defence and Space GmbH, Quantum-Systems GmbH and Spleenlab GmbH with a research endeavour to demonstrate and analyze the AI building blocks required for swarms of tactical UAS in a real-world scenario. The project, titled KITU 2 (Künstliche Intelligenz für taktische UAS; Artificial Intelligence for tactical UAS), is funded by the German Ministry of Defence. Continue reading

Norway’s Supreme Court Cancels Yakunin-Case Ruling – Russians Banned from Flying Drones in Norway

Norway’s Supreme Court has overturned the Hålogaland Court of Appeal and Nord-Troms and Senja District Court’s acquittal of the British-Russian businessman Andrey Yakunin, the son of former head of state-owned Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin, with the judgment that the flight ban against Russian citizens includes drone flights.
