GA-ASI and Mitchell Institute Award the 184th Attack Squadron with RPA Squadron of the Year

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. and the Mitchell Institute named the 184th Attack Squadron from Ebbing Air National Guard Base the 2024 RPA Squadron of the Year.

Although the award was announced at the Air, Space, and Cyber Conference, a formal ceremony was held January 30 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, so the entire “Flying Razorbacks” squadron could attend.

Presented by GA-ASI CEO Linden Blue and Lt. Gen. (Ret.) David Deptula, the award recognizes outstanding use of remotely piloted aircraft in meritorious service.

The 184th Attack Squadron flew 314 combat sorties and logged 5,972 ISR hours in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and PROSPERITY GUARDIAN. The unit also became the first tasked by the president to provide overwatch for humanitarian aid airdrops.

Leading the Air Force in MQ-9A Reaper operations, the squadron carried out 66% of all non-traditional defensive counter-air and counter-small UAS missions, strengthening joint force deterrence. Its performance earned recognition as the Air Force’s premier RPA squadron.
