Archer Aviation Gets $110M AFWERX Contract for Midnight Based Advanced Vertical Lift

Archer Aviation Inc., San Jose, California, was awarded an $110,000,000 firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for Midnight Based Advanced Vertical Lift.

This contract is a Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III to iteratively conduct government operational experimentation on military installation for government-owned, government-operated flight operations to execute and experiment with key missions or mission elements to substantiate government use cases, concept of operations/mission design, and cost/benefit analyses of the Midnight aircraft that extend, derive, and complete previously awarded SBIR Phase I and II efforts.

Work will be performed in San Jose, California, and is expected to be completed by July 31, 2028. This contract was a sole-source acquisition.

Fiscal 2023 research, development, test, and evaluation funds in the amount of $1,293,077 are being obligated at time of award. AFWERX Enterprise Contracting, Dayton, Ohio, is the contracting activity (FA2280-23-D-0001).
