Turkey’s TEKNOFEST Started With Fighting UAV Competition

Bursa is hosting the ‘Fighting UAV Competition’, organized as part of the TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, with the support of the Metropolitan Municipality. In the event, in which the people of Bursa also showed great interest, children are introduced to science and technology in different stands set up by the Metropolitan Municipality.

With the Fighting UAV Competitions held at Yunuseli Airport with the support of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competitions within the scope of TEKNOFEST* started. In the competition, where more than 300 teams from all over Turkey applied in this category, 22 teams that made it to the finals will compete for the first place. Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank, Bursa Governor Yakup Canbolat, Metropolitan Mayor Alinur Aktaş and AK Party Provincial President Davut Gürkan also came to the area to watch the Fighting UAV Races. Minister Varank and his entourage first visited the stands of all the teams participating in the races, got information and wished the teams success.

Global Brand

Stating that TEKNOFEST has become a world brand, not just a Turkish brand, Minister Mustafa Varank said,

“More than 300 thousand teams and 1 million competitors applied.* Here we are doing the finals. Of course, as Bursa, we have been hosting unmanned aerial vehicle competitions for a few years. We are trying to show our best to our young brothers from all over Turkey. We welcome them in our city at the same time. Here we have our young brothers. We invited all of them to these competitions, let them come and see. How do his brothers make unmanned aerial vehicles, what is done in competitions? There are also science workshops here. We invite these young friends of ours to these competitions. In fact, we are bringing technology to Bursa. We welcome all Bursa citizens to the competitions. Our municipality organizes ring flights. They can come here with them. Not only can they watch the competitions here, share the excitement of our young friends, but also have fun with their children in the science workshops here, they can also do scientific activities and activities.”

The Development of High Technology

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş said that as Bursa, they host very good organizations, and one of the most special of them is the Fighting UAV Competitions of TEKNOFEST. Noting that they are extremely happy to host the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Competition, President Aktaş said,

“I would like to thank our esteemed Minister Mustafa Varank for his great effort in this organization. We did our best to host Bursa. On this occasion, I invite all our fellow countrymen to the races to be held between April 15-19. We also have bus services. I wish that these competitions, which constitute an important infrastructure for the development of high technology and for the beautiful future of our country, will be beneficial.”

*Teknofest, short for Teknofest Aerospace and Technology Festival, is the largest aviation, aerospace, and technology festival of Turkey initially held at Istanbul Airport in September 2018 by the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3) in collaboration with private companies, ministries, and academic institutions. The primary goals of the festival are to raise public awareness about technology in society and to draw attention to the importance of national production.
