At WestWorld in Scottsdale, the annual Barrett-Jackson collector car auction is underway, and since the 2021 event is taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there is an added safety measure to keep bidders safe: drones.
Barrett-Jackson, ‘The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions’, announced in February that the company is adding Draganfly’s Vital Intelligence Technology and Varigard disinfectant spray to its health and safety protocols for the 2021 Scottsdale Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale, March 20-27.
“We take the health and safety of our guests extremely seriously,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “We were lauded for the efforts we took to help create a safe environment for our guests during our Fall Auction in Scottsdale last year, and we want to go even further than what was done during that event. We’re extremely pleased about the added safety Draganfly brings to our Scottsdale Auction, and we’ll continue to implement new health solutions as they become available.”
During Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction, Draganfly is supplying a Vital Intelligence system kiosk to provide employees with vital-sign screening to help deliver a safer workplace environment and customer experience during the event. Draganfly also provides spraying services using patented drone technology of the Varigard one-of-a-kind, revolutionary organic sanitizer that provides up to 24 hours of pathogen sequestration and kill-efficacy.
“We use a polymer base chemical that we spray on all of the seats in stadiums around the country, that will put a 24-hour layer of protection onto the seats and handrails,” said Johnny Green with Dragonfly.
The drone holds 40 pounds of product, and can spray for 15 minutes. It will reload however many times necessary to cover all the spots. Green says the product dries in 30 seconds to a minute.
At the auction, the spraying process is typically done at night, when there is less activity.
“When you’re doing the spraying, you’re also getting the floors, you’re getting up under the seats, anywhere where a hand or body part come in touch with. We want to make sure the drone is getting that coverage,” said Green.
Dragonfly worked on the sanitizing drone sprays for six to eight months to help get life somewhat back to normal.
“It’s a really fulfilling thing to do, and seems like a great use for our specialty, which is drones,” said Green. “In the future, we will continue to look for ways to provide safe and effective ways to get back to living lives the way they are wanting to live it, use to live it and deserve to live it.”
The auction arena is done in about an hour, which is faster than people doing it by hand.
Draganfly’s Vital Intelligence technology Smart Vital assessment platform and telehealth app can automatically detect with voluntary consent body temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure and O2 saturation, all from a camera that takes seconds to capture the information. The technology is being deployed for employees and event staff via a kiosk and smartphones.
