The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and drone community leaders met in Washington, D.C.on February 27th. to continue an important dialogue on drone integration topics.
The Drone Advisory Committee (DAC) reviewed a lot of key drone information and discussed specific DAC taskings such as:
- Tasking #5: Facility Maps
- Tasking #6: Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS)
- Tasking #7: UTM Performance
DAC Members discussed and agreed to new taskings:
- Tasking #7: UTM Performance — members will continue to work on this critical
management system. - Tasking #8: Safety Culture

Formed in 2016, the DAC is a broad-based, long-term federal advisory committee that provides the FAA with advice on key UAS integration issues by helping to identify challenges and prioritize improvements. The committee helps to create broad support for an overall integration strategy and vision. Membership is comprised of CEO/COO-level executives from a cross-section of stakeholders representing the wide variety of interests, including industry, research and academia, retail, and technology.
Reminder: The comment period for the Remote ID Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) ends on March 2. Read the NPRM and submit comments now.
