ICAO Issues RFI on Global UTM Development

In preparation for its fourth annual DRONE ENABLE symposium in Rio De Janeiro this September, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is requesting input on the development and deployment of a globally harmonized Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Traffic Management System (UTM).

Responses to the three problem statements listed in a Request for Information (RFI) on performance requirements, certification requirements and integration into aerodromes will inform discussions at the symposium about taking a global approach to effective and interoperable UTM systems.

Regulators, businesses and academicians are encouraged to review the RFI and submit responses by April 17. A specialized agency of the United Nations, ICAO was created in 1944 to promote the safe and orderly development of international civil aviation throughout the world.
