Drone Crashes into Manhattan Bank – Pilot Arrested

A drone pilot was busted Friday in Midtown after the high-flying gadget took off on him amid fierce winds and slammed into a Barclays bank building, police and sources said.

Steven Funes, 27, was flying the drone from the balcony of his 21st-floor room at The Executive Plaza hotel on West 51st Street when it took off on him around 4:30 p.m., cops said.

The gizmo crashed into an 8th-floor balcony at Barclays’ New York headquarters on nearby Seventh Avenue, sources said.

The building was not damaged.

Security workers found the fallen drone, and when Funes went to retrieve it, he was arrested by police.

Funes, whom officials said lives in Virginia, was issued a desk appearance ticket for navigation in and over the city, and the drone was seized as evidence.

It was unclear Sunday if Funes was still staying at The Executive Plaza, and a phone number for him was not publicly listed.
