In what is believed to be a world first, the Sydney NYE fireworks will be broadcast to the world thanks to a specially-built drone.
Telstra announced that the drone would fly through the air at midnight capturing 360-degree vision of the spectacular pyrotechnics display.
The fireworks will be broadcast through the Sydney NYE Telstra App after the climax of the event.
The drone, equipped with six HD cameras, will fly more than 300m above the harbour.
“It’s very rare that we get the chance to see the fireworks from a bird’s eye view and we are thrilled to be providing the technology to allow audiences from across the globe to connect with and experience one of the most iconic New Year’s Eve events in the world,” Telstra Creative Partnerships group manager Nicola Reeves said.
