EuroUSC-Italia to Support Development of Light RPAS in Italian Market

UK based European UAV Systems Centre Limited (EuroUSC) has announced the formation of EuroUSC-Italia a Joint Venture company with Deep Blue S.r.l. based in Rome. The new organisation is now fully operational and is offering the full Light Unmanned Aircraft Scheme (LUASS) to Italian Flight Schools, Manufacturers and Operators.

André Clot, EuroUSC Centre Director, stated “The new company will exercise its Qualified Entity (QE) remit to offer positive support to both Industry and Regulators and is a significant step forward for the emerging Light Remotely piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Industry in Italy and Europe”. EuroUSC already performs assessment work covering RPAS Airworthiness, Organisation and Pilots & Crew for a growing list of National Aviation Authorities including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Malta. EuroUSC is also well known in many other countries where the BNUC qualification standard is accepted as recognition of Pilot & Crew competence”.

Damiano Taurino of Deep Blue adds that “The role of QEs operating to the high standards set by EASA will become increasingly more important in light of shrinking public resources for both RPAS and general aviation. Since the cost base of the LUASS independent assessment services is much lower without any compromises on safety, it offers a proportionate approach to the growing RPAS market. EuroUSC- Italia backed by EuroUSC, looks forward to supporting the RPAS Industry not only in Italy, but also in the Eastern Mediterranean.”

EuroUSC is Europe’s leading independent Accreditation Specialist for Airworthiness and Pilot Qualifications covering civil Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) with a Maximum Take- Off Mass of less than 150kg. EuroUSC is recognised by National Aviation Authorities (NAAs) as a competent body for assessing manufacturers, operators and flight schools.

The Light UAS Scheme (LUASS) embodies accreditation of organisations. The Basic National UAS Certificate for Small Unmanned Aircraft (BNUC-S) is the standard referenced in CAP 722 as the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) standard and referenced by many other National Aviation Authorities. EuroUSCTM leads the world in assurance of airworthiness for aircraft with maximum take-off mass of <150kg.

LUASS embodies the best practices from international regulators and major NAAs. EuroUSCTM now operates in Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom in support of its customers.
