Yemen says American UAS Crashed into Mountain

Predator-Missile
A military source said last Thursday that an American UAS had fallen near the border with neighboring Oman. A Yemeni investigation has concluded that it had crashed in the southern Al-Mahra province  after hitting a mountain.
A security source told Anadolu Agency that Yemeni authorities had managed to collect the wreckage of the UAS and had found two unused rockets.

This was the first time American UAS, which are generally used in attacking alleged al-Qaeda fighters in Yemen’s southern and central provinces, had appeared in al-Hat.

According to rights groups, 97 suspected Al-Qaeda operatives and 33 civilians were killed in 35 UAS attacks in 2013.

The Yemeni government has repeatedly warned that the death of civilians in US UAS strikes only serve to sway public sentiments in favor of Al-Qaeda.
