San Francisco Bay Area CBS station KPIX reports that the California Highway Patrol (CHP) recently discovered a number of fake road signs in the Bay Area that read “Speed Enforced By Drones.”
The mysterious signs, which feature a graphic of a UAS launching a missile, closely match the construction of actual highway signage. According to KPIX, a CHP spokesman strenuously denied operating any UAS: “At CHP we definitely do not have drones. We use radar, lidar, pace, we have planes and we have helicopters, but we do not have drones,” he said. “Along with not having drones we definitely do not have any drones that would fire any type of weaponry.”
