First JARUS Information and Dissemination Workshop

The first JARUS Information and Dissemination Workshop will take place on 6 December 2012 and will be kindly hosted by EUROCONTROL at their offices at 96 rue de la Fusée, Brussels, Belgium.

JARUS (Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems) is a group of experts representing National Aviation Authorities (NAAs) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Its purpose is to recommend a single set of technical, safety and operational requirements for the certification and safe integration of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) / Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) into airspace and at aerodromes. This requires review and consideration of existing regulations and other material applicable to manned aircraft and the drafting of specific UAS/RPAS guidance material to cover the unique features of UAS/RPAS.

JARUS is soliciting feedback and comments from stakeholders in the UAS/RPAS community on their proposals for regulation through workshops and a subsequent comment period.

This first JARUS Information and Dissemination workshop will address two draft regulations. In the morning the JARUS working group on Airworthiness will present their first deliverable, CS-LURS. This presentation will also mark the start of a comment period on this deliverable. CS-LURS is a set of airworthiness requirements for Light Unmanned Rotorcraft Systems. The workshop will include time for questions and some discussion on the material presented. In the afternoon, the System Safety group will present the latest version of AMC UAS.1309 and discuss some essential items in preparation for their final draft version.

JARUS workshops are open to all interested parties in the UAS/RPAS community and participation is free of charge. Interested parties desiring to attend the workshop in the Castor meeting room at EUROCONTROL on Thursday 6 December 2012 (09.30-13.00 & 14.30-17.00) are invited to apply for participation by supplying, before 15 November 2012, their complete name, affiliation, email address and telephone number, by email to Ron van de Leijgraaf, the JARUS chairman, at ron.vande.leijgraaf@minienm.nl Acceptance of participation applications will be at the discretion of JARUS. Formal identification (passport, identity card) will be required to enter EUROCONTROL.
