Rotomotion Announces World’s Smallest VTOL UAS

Rotomotion has announced what it claims to be “the smallest, most affordable professional short endurance electric Vertical Take Off and Land Unmanned Aerial System (VTOL UAS) in the industry” – the SR5 Parvus. The company describes the SR5 as “the most advanced professional VTOL UAS in its weight and payload class providing military-grade autonomous flight with features such as stable hoover, event-driven automatic craft return and pre-loaded map and flight path tracking that allows in-flight switching between manual and autonomous modes”.

The SR5 provides ~20 minutes of flight time and includes a 10X optical zoom SD camera that streams video to the ground controller in real time. The SR5’s state-of-the-art design and materials combined with Rotomotion’s patented autonomous flight controller provides the longest flight time and highest payload-to-aircraft weight ratio of any VTOL in its class. The complete take-off weight is less than 5 lbs, including the quick-change Lithium Polymer battery, a critical factor when deployment requires transportation on foot.

The SR5 Parvus is 34” long with a 31” Rotor and just over 9” high. It is immediately available for $11,500 per unit or $20,000 per pair.

The video relayed by the SR5 in real-time is extremely clear and steady due to Rotomotion’s video stability and enhancement software, Rotovision, included with each model. The reliability and stability of the SR5 UAV to take-off, fly various patterns and land without any human intervention is due to Rotomotion’s sophisticated, patent-pending Autonomous Flight Control System (AFCS). All Rotomotion UAVs use the same control system, incorporating the AFCS, a GPS and a ground control system (GCS), with larger, gas powered, UAVs available for longer flight times and heavier payloads. The SR5 is Rotomotion’s smallest of five model sizes available.

“Day after day, our test crew and product engineers came back from daily test flights amazed at yet another record-breaking metric the SR5 accomplished,” stated Dennis D’Annunzio Sr., president and CEO of Rotomotion, LLC. “No matter what metric we test from flight endurance to maximum wind conditions, the SR5 is a clear industry game-changer.”

Rotomotion, located in Charleston, South Carolina, designs and manufactures easy-to-operate helicopter UAVs and flight control systems. Deployed world-wide and used in a range of in-the-field applications, Rotomotion offers five models of helicopter UAVs, with payloads from up to fifty lbs., endurance up to four hours, and electric, gasoline, and diesel or alcohol engine options.
