Army Independence Day Parade in Minsk

A parade of the Minsk garrison forces and civilian machines and vehicles took place in Minsk on 3 July in honour of Belarus’ Independence Day, BelTA has learned. About 3,500 military personnel took part in the parade.

As many as 20 parade units marched on foot representing the Minsk Suvorov Military School, the Military Academy, the Military Technology Department of the Belarusian National Technical University and other military education institutions.

The mechanized column involved 26 parade units and 222 vehicles such as T-72B combat tanks, BMP-2 infantry combat vehicles, BTR-80 armoured personnel carriers, light-armoured vehicles Cayman, MZKT trucks with unmanned aerial vehicles, 2S12B Sani mortar systems, Shturm combat vehicles, the multiple-launch rocket systems Polonez and other combat vehicles.

The Air Force was represented by 26 helicopters and 32 aircraft. The column of civilian vehicles and machines comprised 102 vehicles, including BelGee cars, vehicles made by the Belarusian tractor maker MTZ, the agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash, and the utility vehicle manufacturer Amkodor.
