LED Quadrotors Display Star Trek Logo Over London
Over the weekend, the studio behind Star Trek Into Darkness took the film’s title literally, commissioning the flying of a giant, glowing Starfleet insignia in the London night sky. Comprised of 30 LED-illuminated quadrotors, the 308-foot-tall logo rotated in place 118 feet above ground (video below), before dimming its lights alongside those of Tower Bridge and Big Ben in recognition of the WWF’s Earth Hour conservation effort. Delft Dynamics Selected by Dutch Defence for Development of Flying Robots
Delft Dynamics‘ project ASIMOV, “Autonomous Rapid Deployable Multicopter for Overview and Security”, has been selected by the Dutch Ministry of Defence as best project proposal of a total of 44 submitted proposals by Dutch SMEs under the SBIR tender “Safe ground based actions and military operations in urban areas”. K-MAX Stay in Afghanistan Until 2014 Withdrawal
The U.S. Marine Corps will keep the two K-MAX unmanned helicopters in Afghanistan ‘indefinitely’, at least, until the withdrawal or US troops from the country next year, a Navy spokeswoman said, noting the aircraft kept re-supply trucks off the road and reduced the threat of roadside bombs.
