Australia’s CASA Warns Bushfire UAS Operators of Potential Fines

The Civil Aviation Safety Authority is warning anyone caught flying unapproved UAS over fire affected areas in New South Wales could be fined. It says that there have been two incidents in the past week of people operating UAS over fires in Lithgow and the Blue Mountains. CASA says the UAS flights are putting firefighting responses at risk. Lockheed Martin’s Self-Powered Ad-hoc Network (SPAN) system is a network of “Field-and Forget” ground sensors that provides unobtrusive, continuous surveillance which can support a variety of missions and applications, such as border protection, area surveillance and even bridge, pipeline, aircraft and other structural monitoring requirements.

US Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System Programme Gets New Leader

NavairThe Department of the Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air System Program Office welcomed a new leader during a change of command ceremony at Patuxent River on Oct. 17 where Navy Capt. Beau Duarte replaced Capt.
