Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has codified the domestically produced Dovbush T40 unmanned aerial system (UAS), a strategic-level aircraft with a range of more than 2,000 kilometers.
The Dovbush T40 has a wingspan of nearly 5 meters and can remain airborne for more than 24 hours. Its operational range is sufficient to strike targets beyond the Urals and in Russia’s Siberia.
The Dovbush T40 is intended for deep reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and precision strikes against enemy infrastructure, equipment, and personnel at significant distances from the frontline.
During testing, the Dovbush T40 demonstrated the tactical and technical characteristics specified by its developers. The system is equipped with a high-performance engine featuring an electronic fuel injection system and has low radar visibility. The drone can be used in different strike configurations, including as a strike system or to release munitions. The ministry also highlighted its resistance to electronic warfare and its advanced technological equipment.
During testing, the drone confirmed its stated tactical and technical specifications. It has a number of advantages over similar aircraft, including:
very low radar signature;
- a high-performance engine with an electronic fuel-injection system;
- multiple target-engagement options, including kamikaze strikes and munition drops;
- innovative technological equipment.
The Dovbush T40 was developed and manufactured by a Ukrainian company with extensive experience in producing unmanned aircraft. The company’s Dovbush T20 and Kotyhoroshko systems have been used on the battlefield since 2022 and have demonstrated high effectiveness, according to the ministry.

Drawing on experience with the Dovbush T20, which was designed for medium-range reconnaissance, real-time artillery fire adjustment, and precision strikes, the manufacturer developed the longer-range and more powerful Dovbush T40 strike platform.
